Lokar Throttle and AOD Cable Linkages

My Comet build is no where close to a true restoration with original parts and pieces.  This section outlines the install of my Lokar Throttle and AOD Cable linkages.  I used three separate Lokar kits for this section:

·        The Carburetor Bracket Kit

·        The Throttle Cable Kit (TC-1000HT)

·        The Ford Hi-Tech Kickdown Kit (KD-2AODHT)

Below is the Carburetor Spring Return bracket bolted on to the rear of my Edlebrock

Below, I installed the Kickdown Adjuster bracket from the AOD kit and also the Cable Housing Adjuster fittings from the throttle cable kit.

Below, I drilled a hole in the firewall and installed a fitting from the throttle cable kit.  To determine where to drill this hole, I needed to know where my pedal assembly is going to be mounted so the throttle cable would line up.   The throttle cable kit also came with two feet of the steel braided cable housing that I cut to length.

The below two brackets came from the AOD kit.  The chrome one in the back is called the Tear Drop bracket for the return spring and the plastic one in front is called the Lokar Cable Slide fitting and is from the AOD kit.

The below Return Spring comes with the bracket kit…

Below shows the Carb End fitting that is attached to the Carburetor throttle arm.  This fitting came with the throttle kit.

Here’s another shot showing everything.

Below shows the fitting that came with the throttle kit from inside the firewall along with a knock-off Lokar pedal assembly.

I dropped the pan and removed the throttle arm spring…This wasn’t part of the Lokar directions but was a recommendation from the Ford Transmission Forum.

From the AOD kit came the Mounting Boss (left bracket) and the Trans Arm (right).  Because I am installing a floor mounted shifter, the gear select arm was mounted pointing downward, therefore, the Trans Arm needed to be pointing the opposite direction…

More to Come…
