1965 Mercury Comet 202

Welcome to my 1965 Comet
resto-mod web site! Above is a picture
of my car the day I brought it home. It
looks pretty good in the picture but little did I know was that Bondo lay below
the paint and not metal. This car had
much more rust than I ever would have suspected.
I started this project in Oct of
2003 and expected this to last about 1000 days (just over three 3 years) and
I’m thinking it will be closer to five!
I started this web site late in the game but better late than
never.
I really enjoy and have been so
inspired by reading the progress that others are making though their web sites and
hope to share my experiences and lessons learned with anybody interested in
following my journey. Gosh…this is
really more work than I ever imagined and if I had known what I know now, I
might not have started…but I’m glad I did.
When I first started, my ideas and
thoughts for what I wanted to do were all over the place. I was tempted to install all the whiz-bang
goodies the custom rods had complete with shaved doors and power windows. Well all that has calmed down and after
hanging out on the Comet-List
on Yahoo (great folks), I’m more interested in keeping the Comet somewhat
closer to its original look and feel…but with a few little modifications here
and there…like subtle body modifications, improved suspension, steering,
braking and power enhancements.
I also hang out quite a bit at www.fordmuscle.com , http://www.tffn.net/ , www.autobodystore.com , http://spi.forumup.org/ and www.hotrodders.com . These sites have become my main source of
support and information.
