The Library
This section displays the books I used the most to help with
my rebuild. The below two engine books
is what I used to get my 289 rebuilt. I
read one book and cross referenced with the other plus posting questions on www.fordmuscle.com.

The Haynes book below was GREAT! It showed a piece by piece tear-down and a
piece by piece rebuild. As I followed
each step, the part in my C4 matched the pictures in the book. The only part that did not match was the
valve-body, however, the valve body in my C4 did match what was in the Shop
manual. The shop manual had a pressure
test that tested a few of the pressure dependent components like the clutch
packs. My forward clutch pack test did
not operate as the manual described it should, so I took apart the clutch pack
and found that I had left out one of my seals!!

I bought the Master Parts Catalog on e-bay. I shows every single part and how they fit
together and the associated part numbers.
This is going to be invaluable when I start putting it all back
together.
